Meet Drew
A Wakefield Memorial High School graduate, Drew McCarthy is a fourth generation Wakefield resident.
Drew’s passion for public service, and interest in serving the town in this capacity, was borne out of a close relationship with his grandfather, John McCarthy Sr, who dedicated his professional life to serving the town that he loved. John included Drew in everything he did from a very young age - including bi-weekly trips to town hall, the public safety building, and Wally’s Cleaners. Those interactions, and the pride his grandfather had in the Wakefield community, rubbed off on Drew and left a desire to give back to the town that had given his family so much.
After attending St. Joseph School and WMHS, Drew attended Trinity College in Hartford where he a double major in Public Policy/Law Economics. Upon graduation, Drew returned to Wakefield and began a career in the finance industry in Boston. Over the past 12+ years, Drew has gone from an entry level analyst to a senior investor with experience working with some of the largest institutions and wealthiest families globally. This track record includes meaningful experience evaluating, and investing in, municipal bonds. This experience could be particular relevant in the near to intermediate term as Wakefield continues to thoughtfully finance the construction of the new high school and other initiatives.
Drew lives on the West Side with his wife, Olivia, and their Portuguese Water Dog.
